Accommodation for staff at Great Ormond Street Hospital
Bernard Street and The Colonnade; these modern and well-presented purpose-built buildings are in the heart of Central London with easy access to Oxford Street, Covent Garden and the West End. They are surrounded by great local services and shopping facilities, as well as having the advantage of being close to the main Great Ormond Street Hospital, where many residents work.

The buildings are located within a 2-minute walk to Russell Square tube station and a 10-minute walk to Euston mainline railway station. There are also lots of great shops, restaurants and public transport links nearby. London’s major shopping road Oxford Street is a 10-minute walk away.

The rooms are situated within flats in modern well-presented buildings. Residents in each room share the communal kitchen, bathroom, shower and toilet facilities. All the rooms are fully furnished. Laundry facilities are available to tenants next to the office in the garden area between the Colonnade and Bernard Street flats. The machines are coin operated, and the laundrette is open 24 hours a day.

Bernard Street offers flats and houses with facilities shared between two and five people. There are also self contained studio apartments that are available.

The Colonnade offers flats with facilities shared between three and seven people.

Rents range between £715 and £804 for each calendar month and includes all utility bills (except TV Licence and Wi-Fi costs).

Wi-Fi is available throughout the Colonnade buildings. Residents pay separately for Wi-Fi and flexible packages are available to suit most needs. Further information is available at the accommodation office.

How to apply

Accommodation is for staff working on a full-time contract with Great Ormond Street Hospital and applications must be made in writing to the hospital's accommodation department. Where rooms are not required by Great Ormond Street Hospital, we will consider external applicants and may let rooms to non-hospital staff.

We issue Assured Shorthold tenancies for six months only.

How much will I have to pay for my deposit?

The deposit payment is no more than 5 weeks rent

Are deposits refundable?

Deposits are refundable subject to the condition of property and rent account at the end of your tenancy.

Can I reserve a room?

We do not take reservation payments, therefore cannot reserve rooms.

Can I be put on the waiting list?

Yes - you must specify the month you require the property.

Are bills included in the rent?

Utility bills are inclusive in the rent except for the TV Licence and WI-FI.

Do I have to buy my own furniture?

The property is fully furnished. We do not provide bed linen, utensils or cutlery.

Do you provide single beds or double beds?

We only provide single beds in our properties.

Can relatives and friends stay over occasionally?

The accommodation is single occupancy only.

Can I keep a pet at the property?

As stated in your tenancy agreement pets are not permitted.

When can I view the property?

Viewings are conducted Monday to Friday between 9am and 5pm

How many people share the facilities?

On average you will share the facilities with seven other tenants.

Can I rent the property for 4 weeks?

The minimum contract is 6 months.

Can I reside in the property after 6 months?

After 6 months the tenancy becomes a rolling contract.

Can I cancel the tenancy at any time?

You must adhere to the obligations laid out in your tenancy agreement.

Can a friend view the proeprty on my behalf?

The applicant is required to view the property in person for right to rent purpose.

Can I accept the offer without viewing the property?

Yes, however we strongly advise applicants to view the property and the amenities beforehand.

Can I see photos of the actual room?

We can only provide example photos as we don't have photos for every single room, however they are all very similar.
