Independent Living Group - Spring Day Trip
Published - 25 May 2018
The Independent Living Group is a long-standing, well established, community group for over 50's based at Grahame Park. The group meet on Monday mornings. Activities include keep fit exercises, social events, trips out, games, in-house talks, external speaker talks, arts and crafts and games.
During the £5,000 small grants round of the Notting Hill Genesis Wellbeing Foundation, the Independent Living Group applied and were successful in receiving funding for day trips for their 40 members. On 1st May 2018, the group had a Spring outing to Springfield Festival Gardens.
Here is an update from Mary Pearce on their outing:
'We hired a coach, courtesy of a Notting Hill Genesis grant, and off we went to the Springfield Festival Gardens near Spalding in Lincolnshire. After torrential storms the day before we got lucky and had sunshine all day long. There we enjoyed lots of shopping, a wonderful garden centre, and a leisurely stroll around the beautiful 25 acres of gardens. The aim of the trip was to see tulips and boy did we see tulips. The gardens are magnificent and well kept. Everyone had a great time and thoroughly enjoyed the outing. Though the aim of the trip was to see the Gardens I suspect quite a lot of shopping went on!'
