Tenancy Fraud

Last updated - 2 February 2018

If you suspect a Genesis property is being illegally sublet, please contact us.

If you prefer to do this anonymously then do so via our tenancy fraud form. Or email FraudTeam@genesisha.org.uk.

If you're a Genesis resident and illegally subletting your home this is tenancy fraud. This means you are breaching your tenancy agreement and breaking the law.

To end your tenancy please contact us, or complete and return the tenancy termination form below.

Tenancy fraud is committed when:

Tenants illegally rent their Genesis home to someone else

The renters are often charged a high rent, meaning tenants are making money from a property they don’t need.

Tenants don’t use their Genesis home as their main and principal home.

Often the tenant is living elsewhere and leaves the property empty or lets others stay in it.

Fraudulent applications are made to succeed to a tenancy.

This is where someone tries to take over a tenancy once a relative dies, by pretending they have been living in the property for a year or longer.
