Genesis scoops energy efficiency award

Last updated - 20 March 2018

Genesis was recognised at this year’s Greater London Energy Efficiency Regional Awards for its work with Intergas Boilers at the Wenlock Street development in Hoxton.

The award in the Small Scale Project category recognised the hard work that had gone into finding a speedy solution when issues arose with Wenlock Street’s heating system and its plastic flues.  Genesis worked with Intergas to install a new system with metal flues not previously available in the UK, which resolved the issues quickly and with minimal disruption to residents.

The judges recognised Genesis for delivering a successful energy saving project, while protecting the architect’s vision. Genesis was also Highly Commended in the category of Regional Housing Association/Landlord, which recognises true commitment to energy efficiency and to serving its local community.

The awards were presented at a ceremony at London’s Lords Cricket Ground on 28 February.

Simon Bowles, Building Services Engineer at Genesis Housing Association, was involved with the project from start to finish.  He said: “A lot of hard work has gone into this project and the award is the fruit of that labour.  The new boiler system has proven to be an extremely effective and reliable solution.”
